Sanctuary of Truth

The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, Thailand, is the world’s largest, intricately carved wooden temple, standing 100 meters high and built entirely without metal nails. Initiated in 1981 by Lek Viriyaphan, this, still-under-construction, masterpiece blends Buddhist and Hindu philosophies with Thai, Khmer, and Chinese architectural styles.

  • Construction: The structure is made entirely of wood using ancient joinery techniques.
  • Location & Access: Situated in the Naklua area, it is accessible via taxi or baht bus, opening daily from 08:00 to 17:00.
  • Entrance Fee: Approximately 500 Thai Baht (subject to change), often including a guided tour.
  • Dress Code: Modest clothing is required; shoulders and knees must be covered.
  • Highlights: Visitors can watch artists carve, explore the detailed, symbolic carvings, and visit the surrounding gardens and the nearby Himapan forest.
  • Activities: In addition to touring, activities include elephant riding, feeding , and boat rides.
  • Duration: A visit typically takes 2–4 hours.
